Texas Bills SB 30 & HB 4806: How These Bills Could Harm Injury Victims

Education is very important to us at FVF Law. Here is our run down of two proposed Texas State legislation bills—SB 30 and HB 4806 —that could have a devastating impact on injured Texans and their ability to seek recovery after an accident. Our job is to help clients through the injury claim process, so we are very familiar with how the current system works. We’d like to highlight how these proposed bills would change things.

This legislation introduces significant restrictions on injury claims, including:

  • Limits on Healthcare Expense Recovery – Capping past and future medical expense recovery to insurance payments or artificially set median rates, ignoring actual costs.
  • Stricter Standards for Noneconomic Damages – Drastically reducing or outright eliminating compensation for pain, suffering, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life, and other human losses.
  • New Hurdles in Proving Injury Claims – Imposing stringent definitions for physical and emotional suffering, requiring debilitating proof that may be impossible for many legitimate claimants.
  • Greater Protections for Insurance Companies & Defendants – Making it easier to challenge medical expenses while limiting what victims can present in court.

These changes overwhelmingly favor big insurance companies and corporations at the expense of everyday Texans. If this bill becomes law, it will be much harder for injury victims to receive the full and fair compensation they need to help put their lives back together.

Want to help? Legislators respond when they hear from real people who have been affected by these issues. Your voice can make a difference in stopping these harmful changes before they become law.

Here’s How You Can Help:

  1. Call or Email Your State Representative and Senator – Let them know how important fair compensation is for injury victims. Texas Watch has a petition that makes it very easy to contact all your state representatives.
  1. Spread the Word – Encourage friends, family, and colleagues to take action against SB 30/HB 4806.

FVF Law was built on the principles of putting people first through unwavering ethics and a dedication to providing education and outstanding advocacy for people who are hurt by the carelessness of others. Your support opposing these bills can help ensure injured Texans continue to have fair opportunities for recovery.
