Legal Help for Victims of the Austin Explosion on Double Spur Loop

A major explosion in northwest Austin has left multiple people injured, dozens of homes damaged, and a community in shock. If you or your family were affected by this tragedy, FVF Law is here to help.

A Devastating Explosion Shakes Austin

On the morning of April 13, 2025, a powerful explosion caused the collapse of a two-story home in the 10400 block of Double Spur Loop, according to the Austin Fire Department. The blast was so severe that it partially collapsed a neighboring home and damaged at least 24 others. Six people were injured, including two critically, and families were displaced as the shockwave shattered windows and tore through homes across Spicewood Mesa, Pantera Ridge, and surrounding neighborhoods.

The explosion’s impact was felt miles away, with residents in Cedar Park, Pflugerville, and even Georgetown reporting the boom.

What Caused the Explosion?

While the cause remains under investigation, early reports indicate the home did not have a natural gas line but was serviced by propane. The blast occurred in a recently purchased home that had not yet been occupied.

Authorities have confirmed that no criminal investigation is underway, and the Travis County Fire Marshal is leading the investigation into what exactly caused the explosion.

FVF Law Has Been Here Before

This is the most significant gas-related explosion Austin has seen since 2018, when our firm represented the family of Nicole Burton after a catastrophic gas explosion in South Austin. We understand the trauma, confusion, and urgency families feel in the aftermath of these incidents, and we know how to hold the responsible parties accountable.

Whether the result of gas line defects, propane tank failure, contractor negligence, or regulatory violations, these cases are complex and require deep knowledge of how utility systems and insurance companies operate.

Your Rights After a Gas Explosion

If your home was damaged or you were injured in the April 2025 explosion, you may be entitled to compensation for:

  • Medical expenses
  • Property damage
  • Pain and suffering
  • Lost wages
  • Emotional trauma
  • Temporary housing and relocation costs

Even if you don’t know who’s at fault yet, it’s crucial to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney in Austin as soon as possible. Key evidence can disappear quickly, and utility companies often move fast to minimize liability.
